The Center for Research and Innovation in Cloud Systems (CRICS) at Trinity College conducts cutting-edge research at the intersection of computer systems, cloud storage reliability, AI privacy & cryptographic storage, and applied artificial intelligence.
Led by Prof. Chandranil Chakraborttii, the CRICS Lab provides undergraduate students with immersive, hands-on systems and AI research experiences. Lab members work directly with large-scale cloud datasets, enterprise storage architectures, and deep neural models, regularly publishing their work in premier ACM and IEEE conferences.
Core Research Thrusts
1. AI Privacy & Cryptographic Storage: Investigating storage-layer data reconstruction, unlearning dynamics, and cryptographic erasure in high-dimensional vector databases (HNSW) and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines.
2. Cloud Storage Reliability & Failure Prediction: Designing machine learning, transformer, and generative models to predict anomalies and drive failures in hyperscale cloud data centers.
3. Intelligent Memory Architectures: Developing tier-aware, transformer-based adaptive prefetchers (TAP / TAP++) for hybrid memory and solid-state storage.
4. Interdisciplinary Machine Learning: Applying deep neural networks to space weather solar forecasting (funded by NASA CTSGC), intelligent transportation, and biomedical image segmentation.
